KUWAIT CITY, July 4: The Board of Directors of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) adopted the recommendations of the Compensation and Development Committee for Employees and Senior Officials, as per its report issued on June 16, following a thorough review of the benefits offered to new employees in the oil sector and the recommendations of the board. The vice chairman of the board and chief executive officer is authorized to take the necessary measures to implement this decision.

The recommendations regarding benefits for new employees in the oil sector are as follows: First: Amend the terms and conditions for the promotion eligibility of new employees at KPC and its subsidiaries, specifically the required minimum period of service in the highest grade, to be at least three years upon initial promotion. Subsequently, the service period will be amended to two and a half years, then two years, and finally one and a half years for the next promotions.

The current policy is applicable to new employees who receive an exceptional performance evaluation rating, exceeding expectations upon initial promotion. Second: New employees will receive five percent increase in their basic salary upon promotion to a higher grade, provided that the basic salary after the increase is not less than the starting salary in the new grade. Third: Allocate the budget for granting the annual increase for new employees, that is, five percent of the annual basic salary.

A budget will be allocated annually for promotions under this category. Fourth: The car privilege will be discontinued for all levels of new employees. Team leaders and above will receive a monthly cash allowance of KD150 as car allowance, in addition to a monthly transportation allowance of KD54. Pooling cars will be provided to companies with work sites. These cars will be used by company employees to visit these sites during working hours. Fifth: The policy for calculating the transportation allowance, approved by the Board of Directors as per Resolution No. 24/2003 issued on June 4, 2003 and Article Six of Law No. 28/1969 on work in the oil sector and in light of the urban developments in the country, will be applied to new employees of the corporation.

Sixth: The mechanisms for granting personal grades to new employees at KPC and its subsidiaries will be discontinued. Seventh: The current regulations and conditions for disbursement of housing allowance for new employees at KPC and its subsidiaries shall continue. Eighth: The current annual incentive bonus system is applicable to new employees, as it is linked to achievements and goal attainment. Ninth: The current regulations and conditions for granting transportation allowance to new employees shall continue.
