KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and its subsidiaries have taken measures to adjust the employment status of those whose Kuwaiti citizenship was revoked. The newspaper obtained a copy of the official directive issued by the chief executive officer of the company, indicating that this action is based on the correspondence from the secretary general of the Council of Ministers to the oil minister. The correspondence references Cabinet Decision No. 1188 on entitlements for individuals whose nationality was withdrawn pursuant to Article 13 (Paragraph Four), covering cases under Article Eight, those cited for significant achievements, participants in the 1965 census and offspring of Kuwaiti mothers. Under the directive, the affected personnel may remain in service through public or private contractual arrangements, but they are ineligible for leadership or managerial posts. The protocols require reclassifying these workers under fixed-sum employment agreements designated for non-Kuwaiti personnel, with retroactive contractual validity starting from the day immediately after the issuance of the decree revoking their citizenship.
