KUWAIT CITY, Oct 13: The Supreme Purchasing Committee for Tenders at Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and its subsidiaries announced two public tenders in the official gazette, ‘Kuwait Al-Youm’, on Monday. Both tenders follow a synchronized timeline, commencing on Oct 11 and concluding on Nov 9. The first tender is for the provision of casing and production tubing for deep drilling wells, as per the stringent technical specifications and requirements detailed in the official tender documents. The second tender is for supplying specialized casing for deep onshore exploration wells, specifically designed for high-pressure and high-temperature (HPHT) conditions targeting the Triassic and Paleozoic geological periods, with precise engineering dimensions.

The equipment is crafted to endure the most challenging subsurface operational environments. Sources informed the newspaper that these projects are crucial for bolstering the efforts of the company in exploring and developing geologically intricate reservoirs, securing future energy supplies, and raising production to unprecedented levels. Sources said the tenders aim to facilitate sustainable supply chains for Jurassic drilling operations and prevent delays in development initiatives. They disclosed that drilling deep wells—surpassing 15,000 feet—poses difficult operational challenges. “These ultra-deep reservoirs experience extreme temperatures and immense pressure, requiring specialized physical specifications for casing and liner pipes to prevent buckling or sudden failure. Such harsh geological settings contain elevated levels of toxic sour gases, such as hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide; thus, the use of advanced stress-corrosion-resistant steel alloys is essential to maintain well integrity and ensure a consistent production flow throughout the operational lifespan of the well, while safely and effectively isolating complex rock and salt formations,” they added.
