KOC inks contracts to treat oil-contaminated soil in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, July 29, (KUNA): The Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) on Wednesday signed two new deals to treat the soil polluted by crude oil during the Iraqi occupation in the northern and southern areas of the country. These are last two of the KOC five planned contracts to carry out the rehabilitation and treatment of the petroleum-contaminated soil in the country, the KOC said in a press statement. KOC’s executive manager Imad Sultan signed the contracts with Heisco and Zaopin Hangzhou representatives. The company signed the other three agreements on July 14 making it “the largest environmental rehabilitation project in the world”. The five contracts aim to treat about 13 million cubic meters of the oil-contaminated soil, it noted.
