Kobe Bryant.

LOS ANGELES, Dec 6, (Agencies): The most recent auction saw the closing bid for Kobe Bryant's last Los Angeles Lakers jersey and shorts worn during a road game, fetching a substantial sum. SCP Auctions concluded the bidding for the "24" jersey and matching shorts worn by the late athlete during the final away game of his career on April 11, 2016. With a minimum set at $50,000, twenty bidders participated in the auction.

According to SCP Auctions' website, the jersey is size 4XL4, and the shorts are a 3XL (Length +2” flag tag). What makes this uniform particularly intriguing for sports memorabilia collectors is the inclusion of a unique feature. The listing mentions, "One significant feature is a microphone pouch inside the front waistband so that Kobe could be mic’d up during games." The pouch's unusual placement in the shorts, rather than the typical location along the inseam near the inner armpit, suggests Bryant's personal preference for comfort. The auction house notes that this specific pair was among Bryant's favorites for road trips and has been matched to nine additional games during the last two months of his farewell season.

The winning bid for Bryant's jersey and shorts amounted to an impressive $366,967, while the Nike "Kobe 11 Elite Low" tennis shoes worn during his final game sold for $118,230. The combined sale of these two lots, comprising the full uniform, reached a total of $485,197. SCP Auctions highlighted that these items "have been perfectly preserved since the last time he suited up."

Kobe Bryant played his final away game in Oklahoma City, where the Lakers faced a defeat against the Thunder with a score of 112-79, despite Bryant contributing 19 points. Notably, other memorabilia from the NBA legend's last games have also achieved high price points in previous auctions, such as a towel used during his final Lakers game in 2016, which sold for $33,077 in March 2020 by Iconic Auctions.
