KUWAIT CITY, June 5: The Ministry of Health Workers Union denounced what the Director of the Legal Affairs and Investigations Department at the Ministry of Health and the department’s employees were subjected to — an attempt to attack the authorities with a knife. The head of the union, Hussein Al-Azmi, said in a press statement, “If it weren’t for the speedy action by the Shuwaikh Police Station, the incident would have had an ominous consequences, saying at the same time what happened was surprising referring to the suspect entering the legal department carrying a knife, and called on the Minister of Health to place a metal detector and placing guards to check the visitors, as is the case in all state ministries.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Interior and the Minister of Health have also demanded to expedite the establishment of a security point to protect the employees and officials of the Ministry of Health, because the Ministry of Health deals with hundreds of employees and visitors on a daily basis. Al-Azmi confirmed the Union will appoint a lawyer to follow up the progress of the assault case in all its stages and degrees until a final verdict is issued in the case, so that it will serve as a lesson to anyone who thinks of attacking any state employee on duty.
