KNG frees ‘minor offenses’ inmates

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22, (KUNA): Kuwait National Guard is releasing military personnel who have been held in prison for disciplinary offenses. The KNG said in a statement on Monday that the order to let the inmates go was made by the KNG Undersecretary Lieutenant General engineer, Hashim Al-Rifai.

The decision came in line with instructions by His Highness the KNG Commander Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah and the KNG Deputy Commander (retired) Lieutenant General Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. It was made on the occasion of the National Day and the Liberation Day so the personnel would be able to spend the holidays with their families.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah discussed, Monday, joint cooperation separately with the US Ambassador, Alina Romanowski, Egyptian Ambassador, Tarek Al-Quni, and Turkey’s Ambassador Ayse Koytak. The Directorate of Moral Guidance and Public Relations of the Kuwaiti Army said in a statement that during the meetings, they also discussed topics of common interest and ways to strengthen cooperation and work bonds between Kuwait and the brotherly countries, in addition to examining latest developments on the regional and international arenas.

The meetings were also attended by Chief of the Kuwaiti Army General Staff Lieutenant General Khaled Saleh Al-Sabah. And, a new building for the Ministry of Al-Awqaf and Islamic Affairs was inaugurated on Monday
