KUWAIT CITY, Jan 14: The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding and a contract with J2 General Contracting Company — a joint venture between Al-Arjan International Real Estate Company and AlMushtarakah International Real Estate Company — to develop an integrated ecological park within the Jaber Mall project in the Jaber Al-Ahmad area.
In a press release, KISR said the project aims to promote environmental sustainability, link scientific research with urban development, and implement an applied research initiative to design and construct the park based on principles of sustainable natural landscaping.
The ecological park will use drought-resistant native plants and integrate educational and awareness elements to create a healthy green environment surrounding Jaber Mall. KISR will provide scientific recommendations for plant selection suitable for Kuwait’s climate and offer technical guidance on designing pathways, water features, and shading options. The institute will also conduct specialized studies to ensure the park’s sustainability, making it a model for future urban projects.
KISR will further collaborate on organizing lectures and awareness activities on environmental protection, sustainability, and the importance of native plants.
Director General of KISR, Dr. Faisal Al-Humaidan, said the project reflects the institute’s vision of using scientific research as a driver for community development. He emphasized that the ecological park is not only a green space but a model for integrating knowledge with smart city requirements, contributing to a sustainable urban environment.
Chairman of Al-Arjan International Real Estate Company, Engineer Khaled Al-Mashaan, affirmed the company’s commitment to sustainable solutions grounded in scientific research. He highlighted that the park will feature an educational pavilion to raise community awareness on the environment and energy conservation.
CEO of J2 Company, Ali Khaja, described the collaboration with KISR as a cornerstone of the project’s strategic and environmental vision, providing a scientific basis for decision-making. He noted that modern urban projects are increasingly judged by their sustainability and smart resource management practices.
