King Sejong Institute set to open in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 20: The country will soon witness the opening of a Korean institute to teach the Korean language, as a new field to enhance language skills and learn about different cultural experiences, reports Al-Qabas daily. According to the Kuwait University it has held discussions with the head of the King Sejong Institute, which specializes in introducing the world to the Korean language and its culture, in the Korean capital, Seoul, on the sidelines of the university’s participation in a workshop there, coinciding with the imminent opening of the King Sejong Korean Institute in Kuwait.

The Acting Dean of the College of Social Sciences at Kuwait University, Dr. Maha Al-Sijari, participated in a workshop for the World Conference of Korean Teachers, entitled ‘A New Era … The Spread of the Korean Wave and the King Sejong Institute” in Seoul. During the workshop, Al-Sijari met with the President of the King Sejong Institute Lee Hae and the Vice President, where the two parties discussed aspects of joint cooperation between the Kuwait University and the Institute, and how to develop language skills and enrich the cultural experience of students, by holding virtual courses, workshops and exchanging field visits.

It is worth noting that the King Sejong Institute is a public institution and operates under the auspices of the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It was established in 2007 and has 244 branches in 84 countries. It was established with the aim of introducing the world to the Korean language and its culture by offering Korean language courses, workshops and various cultural activities.
