King Fahad Causeway Reopens After Hours-Long Closure Over Security Concerns

MANAMA, Apr 7: The King Fahad Causeway reopened Tuesday morning after being temporarily shut for several hours amid reported security concerns linked to regional tensions involving Iran.

The King Fahad Causeway Authority confirmed the reopening in a post on X, stating that traffic movement had resumed on the only road link connecting Bahrain with the Arabian Peninsula.

The brief closure came after heightened alerts following a reported ballistic missile attack from Iran targeting Saudi Arabia, with unconfirmed reports suggesting possible impact on energy infrastructure. Saudi authorities have not publicly detailed the extent of any damage.

The disruption added to already elevated regional security concerns. Bahrain has also faced travel disruptions in recent weeks, including the suspension of operations at Bahrain International Airport amid ongoing tensions in the Gulf.

Authorities across the region have not issued further details, but the incident underscores continued volatility affecting key transport and infrastructure routes in the Gulf.
