RIYADH, Apr 8: The King Fahad Causeway, a vital link between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, reopened on Wednesday morning after being shut for several hours due to security concerns over potential Iranian attacks.
The King Fahad Causeway Authority confirmed in a statement on X that vehicle traffic has resumed along the strategic route, restoring movement between the two countries.
The temporary closure was imposed as a precaution following alerts about possible incoming fire from Iran, amid escalating regional tensions. Authorities said the measure was taken to ensure the safety of travelers and protect critical infrastructure.
The causeway, the only land connection between Bahrain and the Arabian Peninsula, is a key artery for daily commuters, trade, and regional travel. Its reopening signals a return to cautious normalcy, though heightened security vigilance remains in place.
