LONDON, April 16: In a disturbing turn of events captured on video, a child joyrider is seen reversing a stolen police car at high speed along a pavement. The incident occurred in Kirkholt, Rochdale, after an officer abandoned the vehicle to pursue a suspect on foot.

The footage, shared on TikTok, depicts a BMW 4×4 adorned in police livery careening recklessly down a street. With its blue lights flashing, the car is observed reversing along the pavement before veering into a side street and bouncing off the curb, all while neighbors watch on in astonishment.

Accompanying the video, posted on Sunday, is the caption: “Local kids steal a police car.” Greater Manchester Police have acknowledged the footage, stating that they are aware of the incident and believe they have identified the suspect “for further action.” However, the force did not disclose the age of the individual involved.

According to reports by the Manchester Evening News, the incident transpired after an officer left the vehicle to apprehend a man in a nearby shop following a brief pursuit. The 28-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving without a license or insurance, possessing a bladed article, assaulting an emergency worker, criminal damage, and breach of a court order.

The police car was recovered near the scene shortly after the incident, the force confirmed. Responding to the footage on social media, a police spokesperson condemned the reckless behavior, emphasizing that the individual’s actions were unacceptable.
