KUWAIT CITY, Dec 26: Kuwait Fund for the Advancement of Science (KFAS) has refuted a rumor circulating on social media that the fund ranks Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST) as the best private university in Kuwait in the area of scientific research and official recognition of the college. In a press release, KFAS disclosed that the institution offers research grant rather than academic accreditation, indicating it does not have the prerogative to award academic accreditation to any institution.

It emphasized the institution is responsible for evaluating the quality of researches. It stressed the fund gives necessary support to private universities, relevant private companies and government agencies, which is in the area of research grant only.

It strives to promote advancement of science, technology and invention through the grant to ensure it serves as a catalyst in benefiting the society, scientific institutions and companies in Kuwait. “In line with its 2017-2021 strategy, the institution is committed to playing leading role to support efforts towards transforming Kuwaiti economy to knowledge-based rather than being a consumer economy. This can only be achieved through investing in human resources and development of national projects that aim at providing innovative solutions to challenges of national priority,” the press release reaffirmed.
