KFAED participates in ‘United Nations Day’

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 31: The Kuwait Fund for Arab and Economic Development participated in the “United Nations Day” event, which was organized by the United Nations office in Kuwait last Monday evening, under the patronage and presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Fund’s Board of Directors, Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah, reports Al-Rai daily.

The celebration comes on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the close partnership between the State of Kuwait and United Nations organizations in the fields of development and peace, and to enhance sustainable cooperation between the United Nations and Kuwait in achieving development goals and efforts to promote peace at the regional and international levels.

The Fund’s acting director, Walid Al-Bahr, announced that the Kuwaiti Fund’s total contributions to supporting development and humanitarian efforts and projects of United Nations organizations and bodies around the world amounted to about 34 grants, worth up to $108 million.

Al-Bahr stressed that KFAED’s efforts in partnership with United Nations bodies come within the framework of supporting regional and international humanitarian work in enhancing countries’ capacity for development, which has resulted in a profound impact on the sectors of education, health, agriculture, irrigation, transport, communications, energy, industry, water and sanitation in developing countries, in addition to supporting Refugees and giving them the opportunity to have a decent life.
