KUWAIT CITY, Sept 17: The Criminal Security Sector, represented by the Ahmadi Governorate Investigation Department, arrested a non-Kuwaiti national for allegedly trafficking imported liquor, the Ministry of Interior said.

The suspect was apprehended in the Jaber Al-Ahmad area as he was leaving his residence following search and investigation operations that confirmed the credibility of information received by security authorities.

During questioning, the suspect allegedly confessed to trafficking imported liquor and directed investigators to a storage location inside his residence. Detectives seized 172 bottles of imported liquor and KD465,750 in cash.

Investigations also uncovered suspicions that the suspect had been laundering proceeds from the illegal activity through his bank accounts. According to the Ministry, he allegedly used payment links to receive money from buyers and deposited the proceeds into his bank accounts to make the funds appear legitimate.

Legal procedures are being taken against the suspect ahead of his referral to the competent authorities for further action.
