KUWAIT CITY, April 29: The Criminal Court, headed by Judge Nayef Al-Dahoum, imposed a fine of KD3,000 on each of the current and former heads of a sports federation, a female athlete, and two female administrators after convicting them of misappropriating around KD30,000 in sports leave salaries, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The case is about the payment of sports leave salaries to the defendants despite the evidence that they did not engage in any sports activities or official duties during the relevant period, which the court classified as misappropriation of public funds. It is worth mentioning that the defendants returned the misappropriated sums during the investigation of the Public Prosecution, a factor the court took into account when it issued its ruling. The court had earlier annulled the decision of the prosecution to close the case and ordered referral of the defendants for trial, leading to the conviction of the defendants and the imposition of fines.
