KUWAIT CITY, May 4: The Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Al-Dhuwaihi Al-Dhuwaihi, with Judges Salem Al-Zayed and Ibrahim Khuraibat as members, concluded one of the most prominent cases of Kuwaiti citizenship forgery, spanning from 1993 to 2025, by issuing deterrent sentences against the defendants. The court sentenced a Saudi defendant, a member of the military, to seven years’ imprisonment with hard labor and fined him KD 316,000, after convicting him of forging Kuwaiti citizenship in exchange for KD 35,000. The defendant had unlawfully claimed to be the son of a person whose citizenship had been revoked by decree after it was confirmed that it had been obtained fraudulently.
Investigations by the Nationality Investigations Department revealed that the defendant’s biometric fingerprint matched his photograph on his Saudi identity card, confirming the forgery. The court sentenced the father of the forger in absentia to seven years’ imprisonment. Investigations also revealed that the accused exploited his forged citizenship to secure two government positions. He was appointed as a corporal at the Ministry of Defense and also worked as a police officer at the Ministry of Interior. As a result, he unlawfully obtained salaries, financial benefits, loans, and pension entitlements totaling over KD 105,000.
