KD 2.15 bln spent for allowance of Kuwaitis’ rent for last 11 years

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 17: Official data revealed that the State spent around KD 2.15 billion for the rent allowance of citizens entitled to housing grants in the last 11 years, reports Al-Anba daily. The data cited delay in the implementation of some housing projects as the reason behind the increase in State expenditure on rent allowance for citizens in 2020 – KD 227 million compared to KD 218 million in the previous fiscal year. The implementation of housing projects on time will reduce State expenditure on rent allowance, the data pointed out.

The data showed that the annual rent allowance have been increasing to record levels over the past years; as it reached KD 155 million in 2010, while the highest was recorded in 2020 – KD 227 million. MoH’s, the Ministry of Health has included Kuwaiti and expatriate pediatric emergency physicians to the beneficiaries of the KD 500 salary increment approved by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for intensive care, anesthesia and emergency doctors, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources from the health sector. In an exclusive statement to the daily, sources disclosed that about 200 pediatric emergency doctors will also receive the increment that will be paid retroactively starting from July 2021.
