KUWAIT CITY, Feb 15: The Kazma Club's under-19 youth team clinched the handball league championship by triumphing over Al-Qurain in a thrilling match with a scoreline of 32-31. The decisive game took place at the Martyr Fahd Al-Ahmad Center in Daiya, crowning Kazma's youth as the champions. Shabib Al-Hajri, Vice President of the Handball Federation, Abdullah Al-Dhiyab, Assistant Secretary, Omar Al-Mulla, Head of the Handball Authority, and the Treasurer of Kazma Club were present to witness the victory.
In the ongoing handball league's second round at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex, two matches are scheduled for today. Al-Qadisiya will face Al-Nasr at 5:00 PM, followed by the match between Al-Qurain and Al-Kuwait at 7:00 pm.
The draw for the 40th Gulf Cup Champions Club Championship took place in Doha, with Qatari Al-Arabi Club hosting the event from the 25th of this month to the 5th of next March. Burgan is placed in the "first" group alongside Qatar’s Al-Arabi, Oman’s Oman, and Bahrain’s Al-Dair. Defending champion Al-Kuwait is in the "second" group with Qatar’s Al-Rayyan, UAE’s Maliha, and Bahraini Al-Shabab. The tournament schedule has been released, with Burgan kicking off against Al-Dair on the 25th, and Al-Kuwait playing against Maliha on the following day.
Burgan is currently in a training camp in Manama to prepare for the championship, while Al-Kuwait is focusing on local preparations through matches in the first three rounds of the league. Both teams are set to head to Doha on the 21st of this month.In a historic victory, "The Dean" secured the 39th Gulf Championship title for the first time in its history, defeating the defending champion Bahraini star 29-27 in the final match held in Manama in March 2023.
