KUWAIT CITY, Oct 31: Kazma secured a spot in the semi-finals of the Al-Ittihad Refresher Volleyball Championship. They achieved this feat by staging a remarkable comeback to edge out Al-Arabi in a thrilling marathon match with a final score of three games to two (23-25, 21-25, 25-13, 25-15, 15-7). This intense contest unfolded at the Game Federation Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah Complex in the Sabah Al Salem suburb, serving as the concluding round of the tournament’s first leg.
In the other matchups, Kuwait triumphed over Al-Tadamon with a clean sweep of three games to nil (25-16, 25-15, 25-19), and Al-Qadsia accomplished a similar victory against Al-Sahel (25-19, 25-15, 25-22). Meanwhile, Yarmouk overcame Al-Shabab in a fiercely contested battle that culminated in a score of three games to two (25-16, 24-26, 17-25, 25-23, 15-13).
The final standings of the participating teams are as follows: Burgan led the pack with 21 points, followed by Kuwait in the second spot, and Al-Qadsia in the third position. Kazma accumulated 14 points, while Al-Arabi trailed closely behind with 13 points. Yarmouk has 8 points, Al-Shabab with 7 points, Al-Sahel with 2 points and Al-Tadamon with 1 point.
The Al-Ittihad Refresher Championship’s semi-finals are scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday.
According to the tournament format, the second-ranked team, “Kuwait,” will square off against the third-ranked team, Al-Qadsia, at 5:00 p.m. in the Al-Ittihad hall. At 7:00 pm, the table-toppers, the Burgan team, will clash with the fourth-ranked squad, Kazma.
The victorious teams from these matches will advance to the final showdown, slated for the upcoming Monday, while the two losing teams will vie for the third and fourth positions.
