Players fight for the ball during a league match.

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 13: Two matches are scheduled for today in the Premier Handball League at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex in Sabah Al-Salem. Al-Arabi faces Nasr at 5 pm, while Kazma takes on Sulaibikhat at 6:30 pm.

Al-Arabi and Kazma both have 16 points, but their immediate priorities differ as they look to maintain their challenge for the top spots. Nasr has two points, while Sulaibikhat sits on nine.

Al-Arabi will be the favorite against Nasr, having shown significant improvement in recent weeks. The Green team produced an impressive display in the previous round, defeating Kazma to strengthen its position in the title race.

Nasr, meanwhile, is keen to revive its fortunes after a disappointing run of results and performances left it near the bottom of the standings.

The clash between Kazma and Sulaibikhat is expected to be more competitive, with both sides eager to return to winning ways. Sulaibikhat will be seeking a stronger performance after losing to Kuwait Club in their previous outing.

Kazma, meanwhile, is determined to recover from its defeat to Al-Arabi and stay in contention for the leading positions and a place on the podium. Today's encounter offers both teams a chance to put their recent setbacks behind them.

In other developments, Qadsia and Salmiya are expected to record their third consecutive forfeits today. Qadsia was scheduled to face Kuwait Club, while Salmiya was due to meet Burgan.

Both teams missed their fixtures in the previous two rounds after their respective clubs announced the cancellation of their senior handball teams.

A third consecutive forfeit would result in both teams being struck from the league standings, alongside financial penalties under the competition regulations. Their removal would leave the league without two participating teams as the season continues.
