KUWAIT CITY, Jan 11: Kazma is grappling with the absence of several of its foreign professionals and will be without them when it takes on Al-Tadamon next Friday in the 11th round of the Zain Premier League.
Jordanian midfielder Anas Al-Awadat is currently in Amman on special leave after travelling last December due to his father’s health condition. The club has agreed with the player—whose contract runs until June 2027—to return to the squad in the coming days. Should he need more time with his family, Kazma is open to loaning him to a Jordanian club until the end of the season.
Kazma is also missing fellow Jordanian Ali Azzayzeh, who is representing his country in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia. He is expected to rejoin the team immediately after completing his duties with Jordan’s Olympic side. Azzayzeh recently impressed at the international level, scoring two goals in Jordan’s 3-2 win over Saudi Arabia.
Another blow came with the injury to Benin striker Samson Akinyoola, who suffered a fractured leg in last week’s match against Al-Sulaibikhat in the preliminary round of the Crown Prince Cup. Kazma were eliminated after losing 4-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw. Akinyoola is scheduled to undergo surgery in the coming days and will be sidelined for up to eight weeks.
These absences have pushed the club’s management into action, with several foreign players currently under consideration to reinforce the squad.
Yemeni player Nasser Mohammed has become the leading candidate to join Kazma for the remainder of the season. The player, who features for Zakho SC in Iraq, has reportedly met with his club’s management to seek a mutual termination of his contract.
Kazma exited the Crown Prince Cup at the preliminary stage and currently sits fourth in the Zain Premier League with 15 points, one point behind Al-Fahaheel in third, five adrift of Al-Arabi in second, and eight points behind leader Kuwait Club.
