Kazma draws Al-Ettifaq, Ajman & Erbil in Gulf Champions League

DOHA, Aug 24 (KUNA): The draw for the 2026-27 Gulf Champions League was held Monday at the headquarters of the Arab Gulf Football Federation (AGCFF) in Doha, with 12 clubs divided into three groups.

The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 13 and run until April 30, 2027.

Qatar’s Al Duhail was drawn in Group A alongside Saudi Arabia’s Neom, Oman’s Al Shabab and Yemen’s Shabwat Hadramout.

Group B consists of UAE side Al-Nasr, Qatar SC, Iraq’s Al-Zawraa and Bahrain’s Al-Riffa.

Kuwait’s Kazma will compete in Group C alongside Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ettifaq, UAE club Ajman and Iraq’s Erbil.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals, along with the two best third-placed teams across the three groups.

The Gulf Champions League was first held in 1982. Kazma, Kuwait’s representative in the upcoming edition, has won the competition twice, in 1987 and 1995, and finished runners-up in 1988 and 1997.
