ASTANA, Apr 8: The President of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has welcomed the agreement on a full ceasefire and truce in the Middle East, praising diplomatic efforts led by Pakistan.

In a statement, Tokayev said the deal was reached through the mediation of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, and expressed hope that the truce would help stabilise the region.

He also said the agreement was made possible through the “goodwill and wisdom” of the leadership of the United States and senior officials in Iran, alongside other parties involved in the conflict.

Tokayev added that he hopes the ceasefire will hold and contribute to stronger global trade and long-term economic prosperity for all nations.
