ASTANA, July 20: Kazakhstan has strongly condemned unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks carried out on July 17 and 19 against civilian vessels in the Black Sea involved in the legitimate commercial transportation of oil through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) infrastructure.
In a statement, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attacks as an unacceptable violation of the country’s economic interests and accused the perpetrators of seeking to disrupt international trade, global energy markets, and transport and logistics supply chains.
The ministry expressed particular concern that previously agreed mechanisms for sharing information about civilian vessels entering Black Sea waters to load oil from CPC terminals were ignored, putting the lives and safety of ship crews at risk.
Kazakhstan called for an immediate end to the attacks and demanded comprehensive measures to protect infrastructure used for the export of Kazakh hydrocarbons. It also urged partner countries to condemn the incidents and work toward practical measures to prevent further attacks.
The government said it is conducting a full assessment of the damage and reserves the right to seek compensation under international law. Kazakhstan reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful conflict resolution, freedom of navigation, and the uninterrupted operation of global energy and transport routes.
