Katropa crowned Summer Cup 2016 champions – Burikat settle for first runners-up

KUWAIT CITY, May 24: The Summer Cup ended with a bang. The teams Katropa and Burikat fought with all their might to take home the Summer Cup 2016 title.

Katropa won the title, while Burikat was declared the first runner-up, Mediacom the second runner-up and Monkeys the third.

During the finals the teams Katropa and Burikat competed for the championship title, the first, second and third runners-up.

Group 1

In this category Katropa and Burikat tied as each team won 5 out of 10 games. Edison and Richard of Katropa tamed Victor and Jet 15-21, 21-17, 21-17; Gerry and Edison tamed Roy and Victor 21-15, 21-20; Richard and Leo overcame Jet and Anthony 21-19, 19-21, 21-17; Burikat members Roy and Anthony slammed Gerry and Leo 21-7, 21-19; Anthony and Joenel clobbered Leo and Mathew 21-16, 21-12; Joenel and Roy thumped Mathew and Gerry 21-19, 21-20.

Mediacom won 9 out of 10 games against the Monkeys. Sanooj and Jess thrashed Henry and Ainur 21-14, 21-16; Medo and Rhommel beat Neil and Gino 21-20, 21-16; Jess and Subin defeated Ainur and Vasu 21-19, 21-20; Medo and Subin edged Neil and Vasu 21-17, 21-20 and Rhommel and Sanooj smashed Gino and Henry 21-18, 21-17.

Group 2

In another tie between Katropa and Burikat both won 5 of out 10 games. Aleks and Ahmad of Katropa hammered Cris and Arnel 21-6, 21-13; Aleks and Bong outclassed Cris and Bonnie 21-13, 21-17; Ahmad and Bong edged Arnel and Bonnie 21-18, 21-17 and James M. and Aleks crushed Noel and Cris 21-16, 21-10. The Burikat players Bonnie and Binu thumped Bong and Joel 21-19, 21-12; Arnel and Noel tamed Ahmad and James M. 21-18, 21-18 and Binu and Cris defeated Joel and Aleks 21-16, 21-17.

On the other hand the Monkeys won 8 out of 9 games against Mediacom. James and Choi outclassed Rafiq and Tarek 21-15, 21-20; Nhoy and Sheehan tamed Ding and Fred 21-10, 21-17; Ryan and James B. overcame Nato and Rafiq 21-16, 21-20 as Sheehan and Choi smashed Fred and Tarik 21-15, 21-17.

Group 3

In this category Katropa was able to edge over Burikat by winning 8 out of 10 games. Ambar and Jecker pummeled Yna and Albert 21-16, 21-9; Glyza and Ambar trampled Aqueel and Yna 21-11, 21-9; Heidi and Jecker tamed Rey and Albert 21-19, 21-15; Apple and Ambar flattened Lorie and Yna 21-14, 21-7 and Jecker and Glyza smashed Albert and Aqueel 21-14, 21-12.

Mediacom and Monkeys got 5 wins each in this category. Mediacom Andy and Zarah hammered Mhd. Casas and Josie 21-12, 21-15; Ginard and Brent prevailed against Josie and Rami 21-11, 21-16 as Zarah and Ano outlasted Josie and Arjay 21-19, 19-21, 21-17. Monkeys’ members Rami and Devvie smashed Brent and Zarah 21-15, 21-13; Arjay and Devvie trampled Ano and Ginard 21-10, 21-13 and Devvie and Jose thrashed Ginard and Zarah 21-16, 21-18.

Group 4

Katropa and Burikat in this category won 5 each of their 10 games. Katropa’s Reem Catherine smashed Chito and Florievee 21-18, 21-18; Catherine and Yohan tamed Florivee and Beck 21-18, 21-20 while Catherine and Mishal overcame Florievee and Jory 21-20, 21-18. Burikat members Beck and Gerrie won against Yohan and Joy A. 21-12, 21-17; Gerrie and Chito hammered Joy A. and Reem 21-14, 21-14 while Gerrie and Florievee thumped Joy A. and Catherine 21-15, 21-18.

On the other hand Monkeys won 6 out of 10 games against Mediacom. Michelle and Dina triumphed over Julieann and Lourdez 21-18, 14-21, 21-19; Mishari and Kenneth thumped Reina and Melissa 21-20, 13-21, 21-15 and Kenneth and Aries outclassed Melissa and Ruth 11-21, 21-16, 21-19.

Group 5

In this Category Burikat won 7 out of 10 games against Katropa. Donz and Mylene thumped Maricel and Lilibeth 21-18, 21-15; Krista and Kingsheen prevailed over Remy and Vivian 21-20, 21-20; Mylene and Ninette overcame Lilibeth and Hussein 21-18, 17-21, 21-10 and Kingsheen and Mylene thumped Vivian and Lilibeth 21-12, 21-17.

Mediacom won 6 out of 10 games against Monkeys. Lhen Lhen and Allyn hammered Kim and Rain 21-3, 21-15; Allyn and Amor smashed Rain and Yousef 21-6, 21-14; Ross and Arman thumped Talal and Ric 13-21, 21-19, 21-14 and Amor and Arman tamed Yousef and Ric 21-17, 8-21, 21-14.
