LONDON, Jan 16, (Agencies): Kate Beckinsale is in mourning following the passing of her stepfather, Roy Battersby, at the age of 87.

The 50-year-old actress took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce Battersby's death, revealing that he succumbed to a brief illness. In a heartfelt statement posted on her Instagram Story, Beckinsale and the family of the renowned film and television director shared the sad news.

"It is with deep sorrow that the family of Roy Battersby, the esteemed film and television director, announces his recent passing after a short period of illness," read the statement. "He peacefully departed on Jan 10, 2024, in Los Angeles, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 87. Details for the funeral in London will be provided in due course."

In addition to the formal announcement, Beckinsale posted a video and photo carousel featuring cherished moments with Battersby, who had been married to her mother, Judy Loe. Alongside the visual tribute, she expressed her grief in a poignant caption.
