‘Kabad’ to get good roads, bridges in new MPW deal

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: The Ministry of Public Works has announced the contract for the construction and maintenance of roads, utility services, two vehicular bridges and two pedestrian bridges in Kabad in the official gazette, ‘Kuwait Al-Youm’. This project, which will be implemented within 36 months, will be tendered through the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT). It will serve several areas like South Saad Al-Abdullah City, West Abdullah Al-Mubarak City and Shaddadiya Industrial City. It aims to ensure smooth traffic flow, enhance mobility for residents of nearby areas, and connect these locations to industrial hubs like Shaddadiya Industrial City.

The ministry intends to increase the capacity of the bridges and surrounding roads to accommodate higher vehicle volume and traffic density. The project includes stormwater drainage systems to prevent asphalt deterioration caused by rainwater accumulation and flooding, upgrading existing roads and services for farms, sewage treatment plants, oil and water well sites and industrial zones, completing the route of 6.5 Ring Road from Kabad-Sulaibiya Road to Salmi Road, and connecting the area to major surrounding roads, such as the Sixth and Seventh Ring Roads and Salmi Road, to ensure smooth traffic movement to and from the location. Meanwhile, CAPT extended the deadline for the submission of bids for the tender related to the study, design and construction supervision of the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) headquarters. The new deadline is Oct 13, instead of Sept 27.
