KUWAIT CITY, Nov 19: Kuwait’s Minister of Justice Nasser Al-Sumait on Tuesday launched the second phase of a national training program aimed at strengthening the capacity of government legal cadres to detect, investigate, and prevent crimes involving public funds.
Speaking to KUNA, Al-Sumait said the program — organized in cooperation with the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies — is designed to enhance the skills of legal personnel in uncovering and probing public funds violations, while unifying legal and investigative procedures across government institutions in line with the highest judicial standards.
He noted that the initiative reinforces cooperation between government agencies, the judiciary, and regulatory bodies, supporting national efforts to safeguard public assets, promote good governance, and establish effective transparency mechanisms. The program, he added, forms part of broader state efforts to strengthen integrity systems and boost institutional readiness to protect public funds.
The second phase includes specialized lectures and workshops delivered by judges and experts from financial and oversight bodies, intending to standardize work methodologies and improve the ability of government entities to detect violations at an early stage.
Official statistics show that 107 cases involving the squandering or embezzlement of public funds were recorded in the first half of 2025, including 34 cases linked to government agencies.
Al-Sumait underscored that enhancing legal capabilities and coordination is essential to combating such offenses and ensuring the protection of national resources.
