Justice Ministry issues new court fees, opens clerk posts to women

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 29: The Ministry of Justice issued a new administrative circular regarding amendments and regulations for court fees and the procedures of the Court Clerks’ Department, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

The circular stipulates a fee of KD 0.500 per page for copies of rulings requested by anyone other than the litigants. The same fee applies to each additional page requested by the litigants after receiving the first copy. It also stipulates a fee of KD 1 for certificates and copies of case documents requested by litigants or others related to the progress of the case or the judgment. The original copy of a ruling is provided free of charge to the litigant for the first time. Subsequent copies, whether requested by litigants or others, are charged at KD 0.500 per page. The circular specifies a fee of KD 1 for a certificate of the judgment’s operative part, KD 1 for a certificate of case registration or filing, and KD 1 for photocopying the entire case file. Violations of these instructions will incur legal and administrative penalties.

Also, Minister of Justice Counselor Nasser Al-Sumait stated on Sunday that receiving applications from female candidates for the position of Court Clerk is part of the Ministry of Justice’s efforts to develop its human resources, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Minister Al-Sumait highlighted that this is the first time the position has been made available to women. Counselor Al-Sumait explained to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that opening applications comes within the framework of supporting judicial work and promoting equal opportunities for both genders. The initiative aims to expand the pool of national talent and benefit from qualified female capabilities, thereby supporting the smooth operation of court sessions. He stressed that this initiative complements the ongoing effort to involve qualified women in various administrative and technical positions within the courts.

Counselor Al-Sumait highlighted the ministry’s continued implementation of training and development programs to enhance the quality of judicial services. It is worth mentioning that applications will be accepted from Monday, December 29, until January 8, 2026, for female employees in the departments of the the Court of First Instance, Court of Appeals, Family Court within the Court of First Instance, and the Family Court within the Court of Appeals. The newly selected court clerks will be enrolled in a training course at the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies.
