Junior boxers vie for glory in the Kuwait championship

Kuwait Boxing Federation Treasurer, Ahmed Al-Zaben.

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: The inaugural Junior Boxing Championship of the 2026–27 season will begin tomorrow, Saturday, at the Kuwait Boxing Federation Hall in Sabah Al-Salem, with competition running through Oct. 14 and several local clubs taking part.

The tournament is the second domestic event on the federation’s calendar this season, following last month’s inaugural Youth Championship. It forms part of the federation’s efforts to strengthen local competition, encourage wider participation and expand the talent pool.

Kuwait Boxing Federation Treasurer Ahmed Al-Zaben said the board is committed to developing the sport by staging regular domestic tournaments and ensuring broad participation from member clubs.

He said a stronger and more competitive domestic scene would help raise the technical level of boxers and provide an opportunity to identify promising talent.

Al-Zaben added that the quality and frequency of domestic competitions would also benefit Kuwait’s national teams by improving their preparation for international events. He credited the success of the tournaments to the continued cooperation and coordination between the federation and its member clubs.
