KUWAIT CITY, July 10: Attorney General Counselor Saad Al-Safran on Thursday issued a decision appointing First Attorney General and Head of the Technical Office Counselor Bader Al-Masoud as Director of the Public Prosecution. This complies with the directive that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued when he visited the Supreme Judicial Council in March.
It is also a reformative step aimed at empowering national manpower and boosting confidence in Kuwaiti competencies. The decision includes the transfer of a group of Kuwaiti personnel in the partial and specialized prosecution offices to the Public Prosecution, as part of a comprehensive strategy to Kuwaitize the Public Prosecution and assign sensitive judicial positions to qualified nationals. The decision sets a remarkable precedent, as it is the first time that some Kuwaiti women were appointed to the Public Prosecution. It affirms their merit and deserving of trust; highlighting their vital role in supporting the justice system. This is in line with the directives of His Highness the Amir to promote national participation and advance equality within the judiciary.
