Jordan shoots down unidentified drone over northern Jerash region

AMMAN, May 20: The Jordanian Armed Forces said on Wednesday morning that it had intercepted and shot down an unidentified drone that entered the country’s airspace over the northern Jerash Governorate.

In a statement, the military said the drone was brought down in the Balila area of Jerash, with no casualties reported. Authorities added that the incident resulted only in minor material damage.

The origin of the drone has not yet been determined, and investigations are ongoing, according to the statement.

Jordan’s military did not provide further details on the type of drone or its intended target, but said security forces are closely monitoring the situation.
