AMMAN, July 19: Jordan’s armed forces said Sunday that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed three Iranian missiles that were targeting the Kingdom, while a fourth missile fell in a remote area without causing casualties or damage.
A military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army said the air defenses successfully shot down three out of four missiles launched toward Jordanian territory.
The source said the fourth missile landed in an unpopulated area in southern Jordan, far from residential areas, and did not result in any injuries or material losses.
Teams from the Royal Engineering Corps were dispatched to the missile impact site to secure the area and handle the remnants in accordance with approved technical and security procedures.
The Jordanian Armed Forces reaffirmed that they continue to closely monitor the country’s airspace and remain at the highest level of readiness to respond to any threats targeting Jordan’s security and the safety of its citizens.
The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions and a series of reported Iranian missile and drone attacks across the region.
