Jordan Intercepts Five Iranian Missiles

AMMAN, July 29: Jordan's Armed Forces said its air defense systems intercepted and shot down five missiles launched from Iran that were heading toward the Kingdom's territory in the early hours of Wednesday.

In a statement carried by the state-run Petra news agency, the official spokesperson for the Jordanian Armed Forces said the missiles were detected through the military's monitoring and tracking systems and were intercepted in accordance with the approved rules of engagement.

The military did not provide further details on the intended targets or whether the missiles caused any damage before being intercepted.

The spokesperson reaffirmed that the Jordanian Armed Forces remain fully committed to safeguarding the Kingdom's airspace and protecting its national security and sovereignty.

He stressed that the military "will not tolerate any threat to the security of the homeland and the safety of its citizens," adding that the Armed Forces continue to carry out their duty to defend Jordan against any threats.

The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions following ongoing exchanges involving Iran and its regional adversaries.
