AMMAN, Sep 9: Jordanian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 18 of 20 ballistic missiles launched from Iranian territory toward the Kingdom in the past hours, the Jordanian Armed Forces said on Tuesday.
The remaining two missiles fell in areas away from population centers, while no loss of life was reported, according to field assessments.
The Armed Forces said the threat was handled in accordance with established operational procedures to protect Jordanian airspace and ensure the safety of citizens. Monitoring, follow-up and assessment operations remain ongoing.
Specialized teams have been deployed to sites where debris and other objects fell, securing the areas and taking necessary measures to protect surrounding residents.
The Armed Forces urged citizens not to approach, touch or move any unidentified objects, fragments or debris, and to immediately report them to the relevant authorities.
The military also called on the public to avoid spreading rumors or unverified information and to rely on statements issued through official channels.
Jordanian authorities said the Kingdom’s monitoring, warning and air defense systems remain at the highest levels of readiness to respond to any threat, with military units continuing operations around the clock to protect the country’s security and the sovereignty of its airspace.
