Jordan Intercepted 108 of 119 Iranian Missiles and Drones

AMMAN, Mar 7: Jordanian air defences intercepted the majority of missiles and drones launched toward vital sites in the kingdom amid the ongoing regional escalation involving Iran, a senior military official said on Saturday.

Brig. Gen. Mustafa Hiyari, Director of Military Media, said that Jordan’s air defence systems dealt with 119 missiles and drones that were launched toward key locations across the country.

Speaking during a press briefing, Hiyari said the Royal Jordanian Air Force successfully intercepted and shot down 108 of the projectiles, while 11 missiles and drones were not intercepted.

The briefing, presented jointly by the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army and the Public Security Directorate of Jordan, provided updates on developments affecting the kingdom amid the ongoing regional conflict.

Hiyari said the armed forces had taken a number of precautionary measures to address the evolving situation, including reinforcing military units along Jordan’s borders, strengthening border guard forces, and activating air defence systems within their operational ranges.

He added that the measures are aimed at protecting the country’s airspace and safeguarding vital infrastructure as tensions continue to escalate in the region.
