DOHA, Qatar Dec 17: Lusail Stadium will host tonight’s Arab Cup final at 8:00 PM, featuring Jordan and Morocco. Jordan has reached the Arab Cup final for the first time in its history. At the same time, Morocco, the Atlas Lions, will compete in their second final, having won the tournament in 2012 in Saudi Arabia, defeating Libya 3-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation and extra time.
The final also features a coaching showdown between two Moroccans, with Jamal Salami leading Jordan and Tarek Sektioui in charge of Morocco.
Salami, appointed Jordan’s coach in June 2024, replaced fellow Moroccan Hussein Amouta and guided the team to its first-ever World Cup qualification for the 2026 tournament. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation tasked Sektioui to lead Morocco’s squad in the 2025 Arab Cup, after coaching the Atlas Cubs to a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics and guiding Morocco to victory in the 2025 African Nations Championship for local players in Kenya.
Jordan, nicknamed the Nashama, topped Group C with 9 points, following wins over UAE 2-1, Kuwait 3-1, and Egypt 3-0. They then defeated Iraq 1-0 in the quarterfinals and Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the semifinals, reaching the final.
Morocco topped Group B with 7 points, after beating Comoros 3-1, drawing 0-0 with Oman, and defeating Saudi Arabia 1-0. The Atlas Lions continued their run with a 1-0 quarterfinal win over Syria and a 3-0 semifinal victory against the UAE, booking their spot in the final.
