AMMAN, Jul 9: Jordan's air defense systems intercepted and destroyed eight missiles launched from Iran toward the kingdom on Thursday, the Jordanian Armed Forces said.
A military source at the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army said the interception operations caused missile shrapnel to fall in several areas, but no injuries or property damage were reported.
The source said the armed forces remain at the highest level of readiness and are closely monitoring regional developments to safeguard Jordan's airspace against any potential threats.
The interceptions came amid a second consecutive day of escalating military exchanges between Iran and the United States.
Earlier on Thursday, Iranian state media reported that Tehran had launched drone attacks targeting US military infrastructure in Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar, while Bahraini authorities said their air defenses intercepted multiple aerial threats after activating warning sirens.
