LOS ANGELES, Feb 11, (Agencies): Jon Bon Jovi is sharing his emotions about returning to the stage after a 19-month hiatus due to vocal cord surgery. The 61-year-old Bon Jovi frontman spoke about his health during Hulu’s panel for the upcoming docuseries Thank You, Good Night at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena on Friday.

Reflecting on his commitment to vocal excellence, Bon Jovi stated, “I pride myself on having been a true vocalist. I’ve sung with Pavarotti. I know how to sing. I’ve studied the craft for 40 years. I’m not a stylist who just barks and howls. I know how to sing.”

The “Livin’ On a Prayer” singer explained that one of his vocal cords had atrophied, with one being “thick as the thumb” and the other “thick as a pinky.” This imbalance affected his singing ability, prompting him to seek help. Bon Jovi was fortunate to find a surgeon who provided a cutting-edge implant to rebuild the weakened vocal cord. Despite being in the healing process for over 19 months, he remains optimistic about his recovery.

“I can write you a song, I can perform as well as anybody. But I need to get my tools back,” Bon Jovi expressed, emphasizing the importance of regaining his vocal abilities.

The singer joyfully recounted his recent return to the stage during the MusiCares Person of the Year honor and tribute concert on Feb 2. Describing the experience, he said, “Friday night was the first time that I’d sung in public. Saturday morning is the first time I woke up without multiple voices in my head. It was just me. And that was the best feeling. It was just me.”

Jon Bon Jovi’s appearance served as promotion for his band’s upcoming Hulu series, Thank You, Goodnight, set to premiere on the streaming service in April.
