John Obi Mikel joins Al-Kuwait on one-year deal

KUWAIT CITY, July 1: Kuwaiti Premier League club, Al-Kuwait, announced on Thursday the signing of former Chelsea and Nigeria midfielder John Obi Mikel on a one-year contract. Mikel Obi, 34, joins the club for the 2021-22 season having ended a one-season spell at English Championship side Stoke City. The former Super Eagles captain won the Africa Cup of Nations with his home nation alongside two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, respectively, and three FA Cups with Chelsea. His glittering career also saw winning the domestic cup with Turkish Super Lig side, Trabzonspor.
