KUWAIT CITY, Oct 7:  Kuwait Club has finalized its foreign-player lineup for the first handball team after signing Egyptian international Mahmoud Abdel Aziz from Spanish club Valladolid.

The pivot, better known as “Jiddo,” will represent Kuwait Club for the remainder of the 2025-26 season and throughout the 2026-27 campaign. He joins Montenegro’s Vladan Lipovina and Bahrain’s Mohammed Habib as the club’s three foreign professionals.

Kuwait Club returns to action today as the 2025-26 season resumes after being suspended in early March. It faces Burgan at 6:30 pm at Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex in the second round of the Premier League. Kazma takes on Al-Nasr at 5 pm at the same venue.

The team will then travel to Cairo for a 10-day training camp from Oct. 30 to Nov. 8, where they will play four friendly matches as they build up for the Gulf Club Championship for Cup Winners in Manama from Nov. 21 to 30.

Kuwait Club is also set to strengthen its squad for the Gulf tournament by signing Burgan’s Japanese player Yasuhiro temporarily.

The club is preparing on two fronts, aiming to complete the remaining fixtures of the 2025-26 season while also building toward the 2026-27 campaign, which opens in February with the Super Cup before the league begins.

Kuwait Club enters the new season as one of the country’s most successful handball sides. It won the Kuwait Cup and league title the season before last, before adding the Super Cup last season, and will seek to maintain its domestic dominance while challenging for Gulf honors.

Meanwhile, the 2025-26 Premier Handball League resumed Wednesday at the Handball Federation Hall, with Qadsia and Salmiya failing to show after previously announcing the dissolution of their senior teams while retaining their youth squads.

The Handball Federation said neither club had submitted an official letter confirming its withdrawal, leaving both teams on the league schedule. Their absence will therefore be handled under the competition regulations.

The federation is expected to wait for the two clubs to miss the next three rounds before taking action to remove them from the schedule and impose the relevant administrative and financial penalties.
