WASHINGTON, Jan 17, (Agencies): Jason Kelce, the esteemed 36-year-old center for the Philadelphia Eagles, is currently in a contemplative state regarding his future in the NFL. Despite reports circulating on Tuesday suggesting his intention to retire, the Super Bowl champion, six-time All Pro honoree, and future Hall of Famer addresses the speculation on the latest episode of his New Heights podcast, co-hosted with his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
In the podcast, Jason opens up to Travis, revealing, "I don't know what next year's gonna look like. I didn't announce what I was doing on purpose, despite I guess what's been leaked to the media."
The Eagles' playoff journey concluded in the wild card round against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with Jason visibly emotional and holding back tears during the game. ESPN reported that he shared his decision to retire with teammates in the postgame locker room on Monday. On New Heights, Jason acknowledges the emotional toll, stating, "People can kind of feel body language and stuff." He explains that he refrained from making a definitive career decision until the Eagles' exit interviews for the season, scheduled for this week.
Expressing frustration over the way the 2023-2024 season concluded, Jason admits to offering remarks to his teammates after the final game, highlighting the complexity of his decision-making process in the wake of the Eagles' challenging season.
