KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: The Embassy of Japan in Kuwait hosted a reception to celebrate the birthday of Emperor Naruhito and Japan’s National Day, attended by Acting Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Aziz Al-Daihani, senior diplomats, government officials, representatives of regional and international organizations, business leaders, and media personnel.
In his speech, Japanese Ambassador Kenichiro Mukai reviewed the progress of Kuwaiti-Japanese relations over the past year, describing 2025 as a “qualitative leap forward at all levels.” He cited the visit of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled to Japan and the Japanese Foreign Minister’s visit to Kuwait as key milestones in strengthening cooperation.
Ambassador Kenichiro Mukai affirmed Japan’s commitment to deepening friendship and expanding ties across diverse fields in 2026. He pointed to opportunities for enhancing cooperation through the promotion of Japanese food products – including Wagyu beef, recently introduced into the Kuwaiti market – as well as through cultural and sports exchanges. He referenced upcoming major events such as the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya and the 2027 International Agricultural Exhibition in Yokohama as avenues for further collaboration.
Emphasizing economic and technological cooperation, HE Kenichiro Mukai said Japan is keen to support Kuwait Vision 2035 by sharing expertise in energy, clean energy, and water technologies. He also underscored emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and advanced technologies as promising fields for joint ventures and investment.
Calling on Kuwaiti investors to explore new opportunities in Japan, the ambassador said the coming year would offer expanded prospects for cooperation in fast-growing sectors.
Guests at the reception were treated to a selection of Japanese cuisine, including Wagyu beef and seafood dishes, offering a taste of Japan’s culinary culture alongside the celebration of the Emperor’s birthday.
