Japan honors Sheikh Nasser for strengthening bilateral ties

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3: His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, former Prime Minister of Kuwait, has been awarded the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun by the government of Japan in recognition of his efforts to strengthen and promote bilateral relations.

A statement from the Embassy of Japan in Kuwait on Monday said the honor, bestowed by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, recognizes Sheikh Nasser’s “outstanding contributions to developing, deepening, and expanding friendly relations between Japan and Kuwait.”

The embassy highlighted that Sheikh Nasser played a key role over many years in enhancing Japan-Kuwait relations through his service in numerous official positions. Even after leaving government posts, he has maintained close ties with the Japanese Royal Family, preserving mutual trust that spans two generations, further supporting the growth of bilateral relations.

“The government of Japan announced the conferment of the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun upon His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in recognition of his remarkable contributions over many years to Japan-Kuwait relations,” the statement added.
