LOS ANGELES, Dec 6, (Agencies): About a month ago, Jamie Spears, the father of Britney Spears, underwent the amputation of one of his legs due to a severe bacterial infection, according to multiple sources. The 71-year-old spent several weeks in the hospital receiving treatment for the infection.

This health setback was not the first for Jamie, as earlier in the year, in October, he had faced a serious illness that led to hospitalization. At that time, he was admitted with a bacterial infection, and it appears that the situation escalated to the point where amputation became necessary.

During his recovery, Jamie had been receiving care in an infectious disease outpatient facility. This wasn't the first time he had encountered significant health challenges. In November 2018, he faced another critical situation when he became seriously ill, leading to an emergency situation. He was rushed to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, where his colon spontaneously ruptured.

According to Britney's team, Jamie underwent emergency surgery and remained hospitalized for 28 days. The statement from the team indicated that, following a lengthy and complicated post-operative period, Jamie is now recuperating at home. Despite the challenges, he is gaining strength, and a full recovery is expected in the days to come.
