ABU DHABi, Mar 5: UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Abu Dhabi on Sunday to discuss escalating regional developments and their impact on security, energy supplies and the global economy, according to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
During the meeting, held as part of Meloni’s official visit to the United Arab Emirates, both sides reviewed the repercussions of ongoing tensions in the region, including concerns over maritime security and stability. The talks also addressed what Emirati officials described as Iran’s continued attacks targeting civilians and infrastructure in the UAE and other countries, which they said violate sovereignty, international law and the UN Charter.
Meloni reaffirmed Italy’s condemnation of the attacks and expressed solidarity with the UAE, supporting measures taken to safeguard its security, sovereignty and the safety of its citizens.
The two leaders also discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in economic and development sectors, and reiterated their commitment to advancing the strategic partnership between the UAE and Italy in line with shared interests.
