Italy honors Sheikha Intisar for her humanitarian contributions

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 7: Italy awarded Sheikha Intisar Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, with the rank of Commander, in an international recognition reflecting appreciation for her outstanding humanitarian and community contributions.

The award is considered Italy’s highest civilian honor and is conferred by the Italian President in recognition of outstanding achievements and contributions in various humanitarian, social and cultural fields. Italian Ambassador to Kuwait Lorenzo Morini told KUNA that Sheikha Intisar Al-Sabah was conferred the rank of “Commandatore” by Italian President Sergio Mattarella in recognition of her generous and steadfast commitment to supporting individuals living in vulnerable social circumstances. He added that the honor also recognizes her contribution to giving special attention to Arab women, as well as her numerous humanitarian initiatives, which have been distinguished by her leadership, initiative and organizational skills, making her a source of inspiration. He said that among the most prominent of these efforts is the Intisar Foundation to support Arab women affected by wars and violence through specialized psychological recovery programs based on drama therapy.

These programs help women overcome the effects of trauma, regain selfconfidence, strengthen their ability to build more stable lives and participate actively in their communities. For her part, Sheikha Intisar expressed to KUNA her pride in receiving this prestigious recognition from the Italian Republic, describing it as an acknowledgment of a humanitarian mission based on the belief that real change begins with the individual, and that building more peaceful and stable societies starts with caring for mental health, strengthening individual capabilities and fostering a belief in one’s worth and ability to make a positive difference in life.

She thanked the Italian Republic for this honor, describing it as a renewed responsibility and an incentive to continue working for humanity. Sheikha Intisar Al-Sabah founded the (Alnowair) initiative in 2013 to promote a culture of positive thinking and encourage positive behaviors in Kuwaiti society. The initiative later expanded its areas of work in line with a comprehensive development vision aligned with the objectives of Kuwait Vision 2035, contributing to building a more aware and sustainable society.
