BEIRUT, Apr 4: At least 54 people were killed and 156 wounded in Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Lebanese health ministry said on Saturday, as the conflict continues to escalate.

The ministry reported that since intensified strikes began following rocket fire by Hezbollah toward northern Israel on March 2, the overall death toll has risen sharply, including 126 children and 93 women, with more than 4,000 others wounded.

Officials also said 54 health workers have been killed and 87 emergency medical service facilities targeted in the strikes, raising concerns over the impact on critical healthcare infrastructure.

On Saturday alone, a new wave of Israeli attacks hit several areas in southern Lebanon, with one strike killing two children and injuring 22 others, according to the ministry.
