Israeli forces kill three Palestinians in hospital raid

GAZA, Jan 30: Israeli forces, disguised as medical staff and civilians, conducted a lethal operation inside Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin, occupied West Bank, resulting in the death of three Palestinians as they slept. The Palestinian Ministry of Health and the Israeli army confirmed the killings, with the Israeli military describing the men as part of a “Hamas terrorist cell” and stating that its troops had “neutralized” them. Security camera footage showed around a dozen undercover operatives, some dressed as medical personnel, walking through the hospital with assault rifles.

The identified Palestinians include Mohammad Jalamneh, 27, accused of planning an imminent attack and transferring weapons, and brothers Basil and Mohammad Ghazawi, alleged to be involved in attacks. A gun was reportedly confiscated during the operation. Hamas condemned the killings, pledging that the “crimes will not go unanswered.” One of the men was reportedly injured and in bed when killed.

Jalamneh was confirmed as a Hamas member, while the Jenin Brigade stated that two of the deceased were affiliated with Islamic Jihad. Basil, injured in an earlier drone attack, had been receiving treatment at the hospital. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the “assassination of the three young men” by Israeli forces.

The funeral ceremony drew crowds in Jenin, with the mother of the Ghazawi brothers expressing grief. The operation occurred on the hospital’s third floor, with reports of no attempt to arrest the men. Violent clashes erupted in the surrounding area. The incursion into a civilian medical facility is regarded as a well-planned, targeted assassination, leading Palestinian authorities to denounce it as a violation of international law.

Since the onset of Israel’s war on Gaza, Israeli forces have conducted daily raids and arrests in the occupied West Bank. The escalating conflict has resulted in numerous casualties and arrests, with hundreds killed and arrested following Hamas’s attacks on Israel. The total toll of casualties and injuries in Israeli attacks on Gaza stands at 26,637 and 65,387, respectively.
